Get Ready to Rummage!
November 3, 2016
The Rummage sale is a community event that brings all people at St. Robert together. Individuals can shop for a pair of shoes or a new kitchen table. Volunteers host the rummage sale at St. Robert every fall. It is held in the gym and is pretty hard to miss as items fill every inch of the gymnasium and even spill out into the parking lot. In fact, there are so many items that gym class is disrupted – students are expected to run a mile outside in place of the usual team sports played on the gym floor. The sale is run by co-chairs and a lot of volunteers from the parish and school.
There are a variety of ways one can get involved to help out at the rummage sale before it opens. One could come in to help price and sort the many items for sale. Others may go out and post flyers around the community. A student could help by just spreading awareness. They could tell their friends, neighbors, and family members. By encouraging others to come, the rummage sale will be more popular and make more money. Next year, think about lending a helping hand.
This year, many middle schoolers gave up time in their school day to serve the community in lending a hand setting up the displays for the sale. The rummage sale has something for everyone. Everything from a pair of shoes to a new kitchen table can be found there. The variety of the rummage sale is one reason why it is so special. ย The low prices are a great value for the high quality. Kids and adults could find a steal there. One could find a signed book or even a video game for 10 dollars.
All in all, the rummage sale is a great way to get involved with the school community. From spreading the word, or physically helping, one can still make a difference. The sale is a big part of the school events and to be successful, it needs a lot of help. So next year, make sure to tell all your friends about the great things that go on during the sale.

I think this is a very important event for our school. Its fun to volunteer with my family. I agree that you can find lots of cool stuff at the rumage sale too. Plus people can get rid of their stuff that they don’t want.

This article was great, I work at the rummage this year with my mom, it may have been only 30 minutes, but it was a great experience.

I went to the rummage this year and my younger brother found a calligraphy set for only five dollars! I do agree that some of the prices are real nice, yet I believe that sometimes that the items are not being given their due price.

When you help with setting up the rummage, it’s fun! It’s nice to take sometime off your daily school life and try something different. Good work on the article :D!
