Namaste: Give Yoga a Try at Yoga Loft!
November 3, 2016
Here, people can deeply inhale the scent of cocoa tea and mint and exhale all of their troubles. Relaxing, they bend into a downward dog and are at complete peace. This is yoga, the art where participants can be at peace with the world and focus only on themselves. Yoga Loft is a yoga studio in Glendale, and this studio offers classes to anyone, no matter their age or experience level. Even better, the owner and founder – Mrs. Poorman – is a proud St. Robert parent! With Poorman’s team of expert yogis, like Jesse Burries (the children’s yoga instructor), yoga is turned into both a meditative and fun experience.
Yoga is great because it strengthens one’s mind and body. Yoga improves one’s mental health, which can become very useful, especially in school where students spend all day using their brains. In an interview, Mrs. Poorman said, “Yoga calms and clears the mind. Yoga also increases concentration, focus, and attention span.” In yoga, thinking positive thoughts while stretching is a must. In order to achieve the difficult poses, one must garner both physical and mental strength.
Physical strength is also improved through yoga. Mrs. Poorman says, “It helps you increase balance, body awareness and coordination. It improves posture and alignment and develops core strength.” Yoga is very good for the participant’s body because it doesn’t just strengthens one’s muscles, but it makes one feel more connected to their body and makes tighter muscles more flexible.
Yoga is also lots of fun! It is a great way to be with friends after school and be athletic. Doing yoga is a fun way to learn about keeping one’s body and mind healthy. Yoga is usually done in classes, so getting a group of friends together to practice yoga would be a fun way to interact outside of a school environment. Plus, it will improve the aspects of the participant’s life: mental, physical, emotional, and academic. Yogis are often happier and more successful than their non-yogi counterparts.

Great article Maggie! I also do yoga, but not at the Yoga Loft. I liked how you added in that it is Mrs. Poorman’s company. I learned lots of new information such as it improves mental health. I thought that it just calms you down. Loved it! 🙂
