Happy Birthday Mrs. Weir!

Phoebe H, Saints and Leaders

The library at St. Robert School is a calm, quiet space where students go when they need a tranquil area to do work or find a book. Many people don’t know, but Mrs. Weir is the mastermind behind the whole library operation, and she recently celebrated her birthday.

Lucy is a 7th grader at St. Robert, and she frequently is in the library and has gotten to know Mrs. Weir fairly well. Lucy explained, “[Mrs. Weir] is very friendly and is always very welcoming.” Mrs. Weir is a very kind person who is always there to lend a hand. “She always helps to find books and gives good recommendations,” Lucy continues. Mrs. Weir is a great librarian, and everyone appreciates her work. She has been known to be very patient with everyone who enters the library and she works well with kids of all ages. Mrs. Weir is very dedicated to her work and service throughout the library. She is very flexible and always enjoys talking with the teachers. She is experienced when  figuring out whose papers, pencils, and books are left behind in the library. Mrs. Weir always tracks down teachers to return students’ forgotten items. Without her help, many items may end up lost forever!

Mrs. Weir has been working at St. Robert for 40 years now, and she still loves every part about her job. She is so grateful for the opportunity to help all of the children find whatever they may need. She particularly enjoys that fact that people seem genuinely happy when the enter her domain – the library. Even though her job may take lots of effort and work, seeing all of the children with happy faces drives her to come back year after year. Mrs. Weir knew she wanted to work at St. Robert because all eight of her children attended the school, and she loved the constantly joyful environment. There is nothing she doesn’t like about her job, and she thinks that her job has helped her to become a better person.

For Mrs. Weir’s birthday this year the school decided to make sure she felt extra appreciated. All of the kids in the school signed a large happy birthday banner and brought her big balloons to make her day just a bit brighter. The St. Robert community appreciates everything she has done, and everyone is greatly pleased that she does not plan on retiring any time soon!
