Loose Zebra in Seymour WI

Thomas S, Columnist

Seeing a Zebra in a driveway is very unusual. Well, that is exactly what happened in Seymour Wisconsin. A garbage truck driver was on his daily drive, on what seemed like a normal day. He looked in front of him to see two Zebras standing in someone’s driveway.
“They were off in the distance. As I got closer, they looked like horses, and I got closer, and I happened to be talking to somebody on my headset, and I’m like, ‘I think I see a zebra,’ and they were like, ‘no way.’ I’m like, ‘nope, those are zebras,’” the driver claimed.
The truck driver called 911 after making sure he wasn’t seeing things. “I’m right outside of Seymour. There’s a couple of zebras walking down the middle of the road, and if you think I’m kidding, I’m not,” he said to the dispatcher.

It is unknown if the zebras caused any damage or when they got lost. The  police officers said the animals belonged to a neighbor nearby, who was very quick to respond before capturing the zebras about forty minutes after the driver found them. The zebras returned  home safely.

Zebras can be “legally” owned by individuals in Wisconsin although not many people have them. Enough individuals keep zebras that the state does even classify them as pets. Because zebras aren’t domestic animals like cats and dogs, they are considered “irregular” pets.

Most people would think that seeing a zebra in someone’s driveway would be highly unlikely. However, even a normal truck driver can come across the most unexpected and surprising things, like a -zebra in Seymour, Wisconsin.
