The 7th grade girls volleyball team is an athletic powerhouse with overhead servers who kill the ball and killer bumpers who pass the ball to one of the power setters only to pass along to an awesome hitter. Even though the team makes mistakes from time to time, the team members lift each other up no matter what happens. The 7th grade team is putting their skills to use by helping one another and listening to whatever their coach tells them. Also, they have been picking/pumping one another up when they are down and having a lot of fun together as a team.
The 7th grade girls volleyball team has Mrs. Ours-Evans as their coach. The girls have been playing together since 5th grade and have had the same coach since then as well. However, in 6th grade, they welcomed three new players:Marina, Netta, and Aubree Rae. They all are strong, athletic girls, and they play as well as they can.
On September 27th and 28th, the girls participated in a tournament and won second place out of five teams present. They were sad because they pushed themselves hard and still couldn’t win first. Many difficult challenges were faced during this tournament, but they won’t let that stop them from pushing forward and winning the next tournament they face.
One of the things the girls do during practice is play “dead fish”, a game where the girls serve the ball and run to wherever their ball lands. If one of them doesn’t make the serve over, they redo their serve. Also, if the ball hits them and/or they flinch, they have to go and serve again. The girls have a lot of fun during practice, and they complete drills that help them learn how to dig the ball on a spike or outside hitting, so they can get a point off of the spike.
The team has their own student manager named Addie, and she loves to help out at games. Addie helps pepper with players who don’t have a partner and helps with scoring how the team does with serving, blocks, spikes, and etc.
