St. Robert School has a musical each year that only the middle school can participate in. Middle school students can either be actors in the play or stage crew. Emmet, a seventh grader at St. Robert School,is in the middle school play, Alice in Wonderland. Emmet plays the White Rabbit, and his favorite “part about my role is how energetic he [The White Rabbit] is and how long I can take actions.” Emmet also mentions his favorite and least favorite part of the play: “My favorite part of the play is the different songs we get to do, and my least favorite part of the play is the downtime [at play practice].”
Emmet was also in the play last year. Emmet played Jojo in Seussical the Musical Jr. Jojo is a character who is living on a dust planet. Jojo was a lead in the play. This year, though he may not be the lead, Emmet said, “I like my role.”
Amanda Hall is the director of the St. Robert play. She is an amazing director and makes the play a lot more interesting and fun! She shared,, “My favorite part of the play is collaborating with actors to create characters, and my least favorite part of the play is having to get people to be quiet.” Amanda also directs “plays professionally for adults and at schools.” Amanda expects “ students to treat practicing at home like homework but more fun.” The students are so grateful to have a wonderful play director at the school.
Amanda Hall claimed, “I’ve been directing plays for 14 years.” She has been directing at schools for a shorter amount of time, for she shared, “I have directed plays at schools for 7 years.” St. Robert is so lucky to have such a determined director. In conclusion, the middle school play is such an awesome experience that many students should participate in.
