This year, the St. Robert eighth grade class did something never done before at St. Roberts. This year for Halloween, the whole eighth grade class decided to do a matching Halloween costume. This costume was Men in Black. The whole grade came to school in white tops, black blazers, sunglasses, and, of course, the classic MIB badges. This costume surprised the whole school, but it was difficult to coordinate and make happen.
Kennedy, an eighth grader, had the idea to do a matching costume with the whole grade. This may seem like a big hassle (and it was), but getting everyone involved was simple. There was a big group chat with the entire grade. After everyone agreed to match, it was time to agree on a costume. There were multiple ideas thrown about and tons of disagreement. Evelyn, a student in the eighth grade, reported that having twenty-eight people in one group chat made it extremely hard to agree. After lots of argument, debate, polls, and laughter a decision was finally made: Mn in Black would be the final costume.
There were some discussions about if everyone would wear the exact same thing, but in the end it was decided that everyone would wear a white top, black blazer, black bottoms, and any accessories they wanted to wear. Most people got an Amazon MIB set that came with some sunglasses, a tie, an ear piece, and a MIB badge.
On Tuesday the twenty-first, the entire eighth grade class came in costume as Men in Black even though not all members of the class have seen the movies. This matching costume choice shocked many younger students, but also raised questions as to if next year’s eighth grade class would follow in this year’s footsteps and do a matching costume. Unfortunately, no one has confirmed the rumors, but this year’s eighth grade class did something that seemed nearly impossible in the beginning, and they all had fun along the way.
The eighth grade may not have inspired the following eighth grade class, but this grade sure did inspire the teachers. The St. Robert staff normally does a matching costume, and the eighth grade teacher, Ms. Masshardt had a brilliant idea. The teachers all agreed to dress up as aliens to go coordinate with the Men in Black theme. This connected the entire school, and it was a fun way for the eighth grade class to leave their mark and enjoy their last year.
In conclusion, this eighth grade class had fun and bonded in a way that normally doesn’t happen in school. The teachers joined in and everyone made memories that will last forever. Though it took a while, and a few heated arguments halted the process for a bit, everyone was happy by the end of the day, and that’s all that matters. This year’s eighth grade really did something special.

This article was great to learn about the struggle it took to coordinate everything. The level of effort all the eighth graders put into a coordinated costume to be connected to the rest of the class. I love how the teachers supported the idea by doing matching costumes of their own to fit the eight graders theme. Overall A great article of how fun and wholesome school can be.
