Daring to Dream

There are many people who sit there and dream about writing a book, but seventh grader Kate Frediani has already started writing her book. After taking a standardized test last year, Kate got an idea for a book and started writing. Kate has been writing ever since and is developing the story today with her true dream to get it published. She has given some inside scoop on her story as she continues to write it in her free time.

The book is called Pinch Me I’m Dreaming. In this book, there are two main characters, Beatrice, Bea for short, and Miles. Bea is just your average 18 year old high schooler; until Miles summons Bea to a different land. Bea then travels to a land that looks the same, but looks can be deceiving. In this new land there is magic, and this magic is used for more than just good. Lady Raven is one of the misusers of this magic and has been terrorizing the land for the longest time. Can Bea be the one to put a stop to her? Bea soon discovers that her parents had magical powers that were passed down to her. She undergoes magical training from Miles and is on her way to try to save a place a few months ago, she didn’t know existed. Bea may have been a normal highschooler in her world, but not in her new one. Bea is a savior to a new and magical land, but will she be able to follow through?

Kate says her message to deliver by writing this book is: “We all know magic isn’t real. We all know we won’t get transferred to another kingdom, but maybe it’s okay to read about that stuff and dream about it.”  Kate took a big chance in even starting to write a book. She knows that kids don’t commonly publish books left and right. She knows that not everyone is going to love her book, but she is still writing about it and dreaming about it. Kate is following her dream, and that is something that many adults are afraid to do. Kate Frediani’s story should inspire everyone to take that chance and follow one of their own dreams.
